Holistic Pelvic Care

Holistic Pelvic Care™ is a type of pelvic floor therapy developed by Tami Kent, M.S. Physical Therapy. It is a gentle technique to help balance the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor, or pelvic bowl. Holistic Pelvic Care™ can address pelvic symptoms or be used for general care and well-being. Symptoms that can be addressed include pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, urinary leakage/ incontinence, pelvic muscle weakness, and pelvic heaviness. Additionally, in many European countries, pelvic floor therapy is the standard of care for postpartum healing.

What does a pelvic care session look like?

Dr. Sorber will show you on a pelvic model the anatomy of the body’s pelvic core muscles. She will then start the internal exam, assessing intervaginally for pelvic floor muscle strength and determining if there are any trigger points or fascial restrictions. After assessing the pelvic core muscles, she will use intervaginal massage to release tension patterns and restore balance to the pelvic core.

How will I feel after a Holistic Pelvic Care treatment?

This work helps increase blood flow to the muscles of the pelvic floor, so you may notice an increased awareness of this area of the body. You may also feel increased strength or a better sense of relaxation in the pelvic core muscles.
